UNA-USA Dane County Seeks Nominees for the 2010 Global Citizen Award
Award will be presented at Sunday, October 24th UN Day Luncheon
Deadline for Submitting Nominations to Board President Kathleen Beckett is August 15th
Global Citizen Award As part of our Chapter’s celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights we will again be presenting a Global Citizen Award to a Dane County resident whose work contributes to “the well-being of all humankind.” Such work might include efforts to:
honor human rights
engender respect for the international rule of law
insure sustainable development
promote a more just distribution of the earth’s resources
alleviate extreme poverty and health challenges
protect the global environment and end the scourge of war.
The nominee does not need to be a member of the UNA-USA Dane County Chapter. We believe that global citizens are needed and often work with little reward. Therefore we want to honor and encourage an exemplary Dane County resident as a sign of hope and an example for others to follow. This year, 2010, marks the third anniversary of our Global Citizen Award. Our past winners are:
2008 Mike Boehm, honored for his work in promoting peace and economic development in Vietnam
2009 Jennifer Loewenstein, honored for her work on behalf of the Palestinian people
Please complete the attached nomination form and follow the submission directions contained therein. Questions should be directed to UNA-Dane board member Sarah Ripp, whose contact information is listed below.
