7:20 pm Program - Haiti: Past, Present, and Future

We have two speakers this month:

Cheryl Musch, Director of International Development for SERRV International, and former Executive Director of the US Fair Trade Federation, has worked and traveled extensively in the developing world.

SERRV as worked for more than 20 years with its partner in Haiti, Comite Artisanal Haitien (CAH) and in February, Cheryl traveled to Haiti to express SERRV's support for and solidarity with the people, to assess the damage done to artisans homes and workshops, and to jointly develop a SERRV supported rebuilding plan with CAH.

AND

Mary Pharmer, is mother to Nathaniel, 21, and Johanne,18, her adopted children born in Haiti With a grant from the Lily Foundation the three of them were able to return to Haiti in the summer of 2009 and make connections with family and friends primarily in Port-au-Prince.

Mary has put the reunion together with some of the history of Haiti to present a larger picture of "the poorest country in our hemisphere." It is important to remember the strong spirit of the people through their art and poetry.
