Visiting Ambassador Heraldo Muñoz, the Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations and Chairman of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission, will give a lecture “From Dictatorship to the Security Council: A Political Memoir"

Ambassador Muñoz was President of the U.N. Security Council in January 2004, and was a prominent leader in the post-Allende, pro-democracy opposition to Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. The Ambassador's visit is being coordinated by the UW's Latin American and Iberian Studies Dept. [His book, "A Solitary War," on the Iraq War and the UN Security Council, appeared in April 2008 (Fulcrum Publishing).
