DescriptionOur October 23rd luncheon will be a time to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. Our speaker, Carla M. Bury, Multilateral Affairs Coordinator in the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (G/TIP) will speak about human trafficking and human slavery; both are significant human rights issues affecting women, men and children throughout the world. It is estimated that 27 million people throughout the world live in some form of slavery – more than at the height of legal slavery. Carla will speak about new trends and initiatives to understand and combat human trafficking.
